Though I have lived and worked in Lexington County since 1999, my exposure
to to the broader community was very limited until I began my participation
in Leadership Lexington County in 2002. LLC gave me a broad education about
the county- it's history, economy, government, and politics. As a result of
my participation in Leadership Lexington County, it has been much easier for
me to participate in the county- from the chambers of commerce to the places
of business to places of government and politics. Participation in LLC has
definitely helped me personally and professionally, and I am grateful.
Chris Smith, Wachovia Mortgage, LLC class of 2002
"I am a native of Lexington
County born and raised in the county. I graduated from Clemson
in 1964 with a degree in forestry. After traveling around the
US, I decided to remain in SC. I started with the Forestry
Commission in 1966 and began it's Urban Forestry program in
1973. I then became something of a "tree hugger."
South Carolina has a wonderfully diverse natural environment and
Lexington County is unique in that virtually 100% of the land is
privately owned. If we are to protect the resources of soil,
air, and water, we must do it on property that is owned by
someone. I want to be a part of protecting our natural
resources. Leadership Lexington, through its broad-based
community involvement, has the best possibility of addressing
the issues that concern me. "
Rhett Bickley - Alumni,
Leadership Lexington County

by the program are vital to the growth of Lexington County and
help improve our area's economic and human conditions.
Leadership Lexington County plays a vital role in our transition
to the next century."

"Leadership Lexington County
makes people feel they can make a difference. The program
help us bring our thoughts to the forefront to make things
happen."
Christopher M. Sieverdes, PH.D. Director, Palmetto Leadership
Clemson University
"Lexington County is a very
diverse county with its citizenry representing every walk of
life. Leadership Lexington is the tool by which we can all
work together and understand the vast problems of growth which
face the county now and which will continue to face us in the
future."
Rose Wilkens, Vice President, RPW
