In the
BEGINNING: a diverse
group of dedicated individuals created a leadership program unique to
the Lexington County experience. This group became known as
Lexington County Planning for the Future and evolved into Leadership
Lexington County.
Many
of the charter members of this organization directed and participated in
the first year. In 1995, the inaugural class of Leadership
Lexington County graduated at Riverbanks Zoo. This dynamic grassroots
organization quickly evolved due to the sponsorships offered by the
Midlands business community. This funding allows the program to
remain accessible to all applicants. Partnered with the public and
private sector, the organization has grown and established an extensive
alumni base.
Beyond
the scope of this four month educational endeavor, the Leadership
Lexington County Alumni Association continues this social and
educational opportunity through multiple yearly programs. This
function allows class members to be reunited periodically.
